Wedding Gift 1

This is my take on a pin from pinterest.com. My childhood friend got married this last weekend and I thought it was such a great idea to use the invite as part of the gift. What a sweet keepsake. To make this invite ornament, you will need these supplies:



-glass crafting ornaments (I got mine from hobby lobby)

-a charm for extra zing

-ribbon

-scrapbook paper cutter

-the invite

This is so simple! Cut the invite into strips, so that you can read the writing. This particular invite had both large and small type so I had two sizes of paper strips. Then you wrap the strips around a pencil or pen to give them the curly appearance. Stuff the curly strips into the glass ball. I used ribbon to place the charm around the ornament neck as well as to use it to hang the ball. I suppose you could use it with any type of invite, but the wedding invite idea is my favorite. 

Baby 'B's goods

My cousin and his wife are expecting their second child and I was so excited when she

asked to make some cute items for her! I had so much fun making this order because

I got to make something new and I made a surprise item that I know they will love!

 

My cousin's growing family is by far the biggest husker fans I know!

So how could I not make a husker hat for Baby B!

I love the way these booties turned out!

This was my first baby 'elf' hat and I can't wait to see it

on the new baby!

Dry erase marker board

My husband and I need a more organized meal plan! Something to help us from going out to eat on a whim and spending $15-30.00, because no one wants to cook ;). Does that sound familiar? So, time to make a dry erase marker board. This way we can keep track of our weekly events and menu! I saw this idea on the DIY page of Pinterest.com (looooove that website by the way!). The nice thing about making your own board, you can switch out the background color to match the season!

Supplies:
          - hot glue gun
          - magnets
          - dry erase markers
          - 12 X 12 scrapbook paper of your choice
          - 12 X 12 frame (if you are to make it a magnetic board, you must choose a frame
                          light enough to hold on the fridge with magnets)



First I glued 14 magnets to the back of the frame. Then, I popped the orange 12 X 12 paper in the frame and finished with the written details! So very easy and I love it! -Laura

baby boy blankets

These are the finished baby boy blankets I made for my mom. She asked me to make them for a few upcoming baby showers. I really like they way they turned out! The blue and brown blanket was super think and soft. The thicker yarn also works up faster ;). The white and blue one was a typical baby yarn which took a lot longer to make but it is very light and stretchy. Always feels good to get big projects done!

Jam Jar Tags

This project was inspired by a trip to Walmart a few weeks ago. While in the checkout isle, I was looking through the candy and found a package of canned good tags. Someone had obviously made a last minute decision to not buy them. They were adorable! I almost bought them myself, but then I thought... well shoot I could make that! My mom still makes homemade jams, salsa, and spaghetti sauce. So this is for her :).

1)-Supplies include:

               Fabric, pen or sharpie, paper hole puncher, scissors and/or paper cutter.

2)-I bought the 12x12 card stock at Hobby Lobby (50% off, yay!). First, I cut the paper

               into 3" long strips.

3)-Then I cut the strips into 2" wide pieces.

             

4)-Using the fine point sharpie, individualize/personalize your cards

5)-I LOVE this fabric. I found it at a garage sale for 10 cents! hurray! Cut the strips about

                3/4" wide and 15" long.

6)-I then glued on a few buttons. FINALLY, twist the fabric slightly and tie around the

                neck of the jar or around band of the lid. I trimmed a little fabric off and TADA.

         

 I really like the way they turned out! There are plenty of ways to change this project to make it your own. It is super easy, and can be a great gift for those who are masters of the kitchen! - Laura

Summer Sangria, YUM

There are many recipes for a good sangria, but this one is so easy and so darn good!

We make this at least every other week or more, it seems.

Ingredients include:

                                               1 bottle 7up

                                               1 bottle sangria (see below for our favorite)

                                               2 Oranges

                                               1 lemon

Slice part of the lemon and orange to use for garnish in pitcher.

Then, cut the lemon and oranges into quarters and squeeze juice into pitcher.

(Use a strainer if you are not a fan of pulp) 

Use the whole delicious bottle of sangria and half the bottle of 7up.

Mix and serve over ice!

This is the sangria we use. 

SO good :), You can add other fruit like apples, or berries as well. Enjoy!

Rock Magnet

While on my second trip in Minnesota last weekend, I found this amazing rock in the water! I love the colors, texture, and of course its shape :). Happily, I grabbed it and stuck it in my purse (not an unusual thing for me). After getting home, I showed Libby the rock and she asked the age old question, 'what are you going to do with it.' Luckily, she answered her own question immediately after... 'how about a magnet!' LOVE IT. DONE!

I couldn't let this gem just find it's way to a junk drawer! 

So, I grabbed the hot glue gun and magnets (ensure they are strong enough to

hold the rock or item you are 'magnetizing') and enjoy!

And it's ready! Love! Oh, by the way, that is my adorable niece, she is 3 months already!
